Holiday Gite on South Coast of Brittany

A four bedroom holiday gite on South coast of Brittany in the small harbour town of Sainte-Marine, close to Benodet.

Maison Rosie is a four bedroom Holiday Gite on South Coast of Brittany in France. The nearest large coastal town is Benodet. The gite is situated in the picturesque harbour town of Sainte-Marine. It is within easy walking distance of several restaurants and bars at the port as well as a completely unspoilt, white sandy beach. There is also a small supermarket within walking distance, so you can walk out in the morning for your breakfast croissants.

Beach

Beach at Sainte-Marine

South facing beach stretching for 4km with white sand.

This beach is only a 5 minute walk from the gite. It is south facing and great for sun-bathing and swimming. During September it is very secluded, almost like using your own private beach. But in the peak Summer season it is busier with water sports, childrens’ clubs and beach games. The dunes behind are home to many species of birds.

Sainte-Marine itself is a picturesque fishing village. Up until the early 20th century, the fishing industry thrived with over 300 fishermen. However, today there are only 6 working fishing boats, which fish for spider crabs, prawns and sea bass.

Cafe du Port

Cafe du Port

Situated at the water’s edge of port of Sainte-Marine.

The restaurant Le Cafe du Port is situated at the water’s edge of the port of Sainte-Marine with views across the water towards the larger coastal town of Benodet.

The restaurant specialises in seafood including langoustines and lobsters.

The vegetarian starter is also highly recommended.

It is advisable to book a table however. If you are eating here during high season it is lovely to eat outside, but it can get a bit chilly in the evenings during September. Shawls are provided, but inevitably, the tables inside are in high demand, so book early.
